Abstract


Lansia mengalami perubahan fisiologis sehingga berisiko melakukan polifarmasi dan self medication. Self medication yang dilakukan antara lain dengan mengonsumsi obat over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, makanan fungsional, dan herbal. Dari hasil penelitian pendahuluan terhadap pasien rawat jalan lansia diperoleh informasi bahwa responden mengonsumsi makanan fungsional dan herbal tetapi tidak didasari dengan informasi yang dapat dipertanggungjawabkan kebenarannya. Konsumsi obat, makanan fungsional, dan herbal yang sembarangan dapat menimbulkan risiko interaksi obat dan makanan yang berdampak negatif pada kesehatan. Pemberian edukasi terkait polifarmasi, konsumsi makanan fungsional, dan konsumsi herbal diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan pasien rawat jalan lansia dan keluarga yang merawat agar lebih berhati-hati dalam mengombinasikan pengobatan dari rumah sakit dan makanan fungsional serta herbal agar tidak terjadi interaksi obat dan makanan.
