LYMPHANGIOMA IN THE NECK OF 8 YEARS OLD CHILDREN

Abstract

Backround : Lymphangioma is a very rare benign tumor of the lymph vessels with incidence rate 1-2 case from 1000 live births. Lymphangiomas are more common in children than adults, with the most frequent locations is in the head, neck, and axilla. In case of the lymphangiomas of the head and neck area, could be found a complication such as respiratory obstruction.So, we need to do an early identification to avoid these complications.
Case Report: An 8-year-old girl came to RSUD Undata Palu with complaints of a lump in the left neck that was felt since the patient was born and grew with age. No pain and the same color as the surrounding skin. There is a consistently dense mass, firm and mobile boundaries, ± 3 cm in size in the left supraclavicular region.

  Conclusion: Lymphangioma in children is often asymptomatic especially if the lymphangioma is outside the head or neck area. Excision must be carried out faster to avoid complications such as infection, respiratory obstruction, ulceration, difficulty eating and talking and death.
