ANALISIS SIFAT FISIKA DAN MEKANIKA KAYU JATI PUTIH (Gmelina arborea Roxb) ASAL DESA LOLU KECAMATAN BIROMARU KABUPATEN SIGI

Abstract


White teak (Gmelina arborea Roxb) is a type of wood originating from community forests. The wood from community forests is classified as fast-growing wood which is usually cut when it is young or 10-15 years old. White teak wood belongs to the medium durable class, Physical and mechanical properties are one of the basic properties of wood. This study aims to determine the physical and mechanical properties of white teak wood. The benefits of this research are expected to be used as basic information to support and enrich knowledge about the use of wood. This research was carried out for 2 months starting from November to December 2021, which was carried out at the Laboratory of Agronomy and Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture and the Laboratory of Concrete and Building Materials, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Tadulako University, Palu. The method used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 repetitions for each test of mechanical properties in the treatment of the position in the stem, namely the base, middle and end so that 15 test samples were obtained. Research result shows that the general average value of wet moisture content (KA), air dry conditions, density and shrinkage are 147.36%, 20.03%, 0.49% and 0.82%, respectively, While the average values of MOE, MOR, and compressive strength parallel to the fiber were 18448.58 kg/cm2, 632.48 kg/cm2, and 233.33 kg/cm2, respectively. Based on the density, MOE and MOR values, the white teak under study is classified as Strong Class III-IV.
