INCREASING VOCABULARY MASTERY OF SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH GRAPHIC ORGANIZER

Abstract


The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the application of graphic organizer can improve the English vocabulary of seventh grade students at SMPN 18 Palu. This research is intact group research design that involves two groups; they are experimental group and control group. The research population is the seventh grade students at SMPN 18 Palu. The sample of this research is class VII E as experimental class and VII F as control class containing 26 students for each of them. In collecting the data, the researcher used test (post-test). The data were analyzed statistically. The result of data analysis shows that there is a significant difference between the achievement of experimental group and control group. It was proved by t-test value. In this case, the research hypothesis is accepted. Furthermore, the study concludes that graphic organizer medium used in this study can improve vocabulary of seventh grade students at SMPN 18 Palu.
