TEACHING COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS TO THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS THROUGH SHORT TEXT

Abstract


The objective of this research was to find out the use of short text in teaching coordinating conjunctions. This research applied quasi experimental research design which has two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The research population was the eleventh grade students. The sample of this research was selected by purposive sampling technique. The samples of this research were XI IPA 1 as the experimental group consisting of 29 students and XI IPA 2 as the control group consisting of 26 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used test. The test was used twice as pre-test and post-test. Then, the data were analyzed statistically. Having analyzed the data, it reveals that there were different scores obtained from the experimental group and the control group. In other words, the tcounted (3.067) is higher than the ttable (2.008). It shows that the research hypothesis was accepted. It indicates that the use of short text is effective in teaching coordinating conjunctions.
