USING STORY MAP STRATEGY TO IMPROVE READING COMPREHENSION SKILL

Abstract


The aim of this research is to find out whether using Story Map Strategy can improve
students’ reading comprehension skill. This research took place at SMP Negeri 3 Palu and
employed quasi-experimental research design. The research samples were VIII C as the
experimental group and VIII F as the control group. They were selected using cluster
sampling technique. The instruments of data collection were tests. They were pretest and
posttest. Based on the data analysis of the test, it was found that t-counted value of 8.48 was
higher than the t-table 1.670. It means, the hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, Using Story
Map Strategy can improve reading comprehenshion Skill of grade eight students at SMP
Negeri 3 Palu.
