APPLICATION OF FREE WRITING TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE WRITING ABILITY

Abstract

This research aims at finding whether the application of free writing technique can improve the students’ writing ability or not. The researcher applied a pre-experimental research method at SMAN 1 Bolano and its samples were 23 students of class XI IPA taken purposively. She gave prettest and posttest. Its result indicates that there is a significant difference between mean scores of pretest (37.4) and posttest (79.1). So, the posttest mean score is higher than the pretest one and its t-counted (18.9) is higher than t-table (2.074) so that the research hypothesis is accepted. Thus, the application of free writing technique is effective to improve the students writing ability.
