DEVELOPING WRITING SKILL OF RECOUNT TEXT THROUGH WEBBING TECHNIQUE

Abstract


The objective of this research is to find out whether using Webbing Technique in writing can develop students’ writing skill or not. The researcher used quasi experimental research design. The population of this research is the eighth grade students of SMPN 19 Palu, and the samples were the students of VIII A and VIII D with the total number of students is 41. The researcher applied purposive sampling technique. The researcher analyzed the datastatisticallyin order to find out the significant difference of the students’ achievement before and after treatments. The mean score of the pretest of experimental group is 33.33, while the control group is 37.30. The mean score of the posttest of experimental group is 60.42, and the control group is 48.81. After researcher analyzed the data, t-counted (6.85) is greater than t-table (2.024) by applying 0.05 level of significance and 39 degree of freedom (df). Based on the result of the research, it means that the hypothesis is accepted. In other words, using Webbing Technique can develop students’ skill of the eighth grade at SMPN 19 Palu in writing recount text.
