The research aims at proving that the use of story completion technique can develop speaking skill of the grade tenth students at MAN 2 Palu. A quasiexperimental research design is used as the research design. The population of this research is the tenth year students and the sample are 25 students of X IBB as the experimental class selected by using purposive sampling technique and 25 students of X MIA 4 as the control class. The instrument of data collection is a test given as pretest and posttest. The result of the data indicates that the t-counted value (9.817) is greater than the value of t-table (2.012) by applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) is 48 (df=25 + 25 – 2 = 48). It means that the research hypothesis is accepted. It proves that the use of story completion technique can develop speaking skill of the grade tenth students at MAN 2 Palu.
